It is with deep sadness that our family announces the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother Marie Madeleine (Haudegand) Bussiere at the age of 94, formerly of Vonda, occurred at Sunnyside Adventist Care Centre surrounded by the love of family on Wednesday, October 16, 2013.
Marie is survived by her six children: Laurent (Margot) Bussiere of Saskatoon, Lucille (Ron) Perry of Saskatoon, Lilliane (Raymond) Cote of Saskatoon, Raymond (Marie- Rose) Bussiere of Calgary, Alice (Richard) Altrogge of Saskatoon and Doris (Wayne) Stus of Saskatoon; 17 grand-children Adrienne (Julian) Zakreski, Aime (Bernadette) Bussiere, Ronald (Shannon) Bussiere, Michelle (Murray) Riehl, Mark (Patty) Perry, Daniel (Audrey) Cote, Richard (Simone) Cote, Louise (Mario) Piche, Joanne (Michael) Epp, Denis Bussiere, Chantal (Jason) Issel, Suzanne (Tyler) Kachur, Jocelyn (Ches) Krieg, Devin (Christina) Stus, Brendan Stus, Valerie (Shaun) O'Grady, Jolie (Jeffrey) Phaneuf; 22 great-grandchildren: Luke, Evan and Brock Zakreski, Christopher, Josée and Sabrina Bussiere, Esme and Maelle Bussiere, Crystal and Jenna Stus, Ryan (Tiffany) Perry, Brayden Perry, Ariel and Joelle Cote, Nicolette and Gabriel Cote, Patrick and Christine Piche, James and Parker Epp, Kale Bussiere, Tobin, Reid and Torrence Issel, Elijah, Eliot and Trey Kachur, and Eden Krieg; 1 great-great-grandchild Mia Perry; her brothers Maurice and Julien Haudegand; and sister Gabrielle Lepage.
She is predeceased by her husband Rosaire Bussiere; grand-daughters Gisele Perry and Lilliane Perry; great-grandson Dylan Bussiere; her parents Jules and Marie Haudegand; her brothers Georges Haudegand, Gerard Haudegand; her sisters Germaine Loiselle, Sr. Julia Haudegand, and two sisters in infancy.
Marie was born on July 30, 1919 and raised in the St. Denis area where she received her elementary education. At the early age of 16 she started to work as a homemaker for various families in the area, at which time she met and married her loving husband, Rosaire Bussiere from Vonda, on February 5, 1940. They began their life farming in Vonda and later manufacturing. She supported our family by becoming a full-time homemaker, mother and grandmother. She was hard-working and enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, sewing, reading and watching her favorite soap operas in her spare time. She also enjoyed bowling and curling. She volunteered in her parish and in the community for various events, Red Cross, Golden Age Club, and the Catholic Women's League. She took pleasure in traveling but her most precious times were those spent with friends and family in her home, but most especially at her cabin at Wakaw Lake. Her love of family, for each and every one of us, will be our most precious and eternal memories. We love you Mom!
In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to St. Philippe- de-Neri Roman Catholic Church, Vonda, SK, Sunnyside Adventist Care Centre or Saskatchewan Cerebral Palsy Association.
Special thanks to the caregivers at Sunnyside, her residence for the past 8 months, your compassion, respect and care brought us much comfort, and special thanks to Marion Duncan, Director of Spiritual Care, you brought mom and all of us comfort with your prayers and gift of music. We are forever grateful for your kindness.
The Vigil of Prayer will be held on Friday, October 18, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Philip Neri, 1902 Munro Avenue, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Philippe-de-Neri Roman Catholic Church, Vonda, Saskatchewan on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. Rite of committal will take place at the Vonda Catholic Cemetery.
