    • It is with great sadness for the family of Arthur André Bussière to announce, he has passed away at the age of 73 at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta on August 22, 2014.

Arthur, fourth child of Gérard Bussière and Émérentienne Hurtubise, was born in St.Paul on June 6, 1941 . He went to school there, except for his Grades 7 and 8, which he did in the college at St. Anne de la Pocatière in the province of Quebec.

After graduating from school, he spent one summer in the Air Force south of Toronto. He then returned to St. Paul to work for C.C.I.L. for four years as a parts man.

Arthur then went to SAIT in Calgary for his first year of a mechanics course. The following year, when NAIT opened its doors in Edmonton, Arthur continued and finished the next three years there.

In June 1963, he was offered a position for CCIL in Falher and here is when he met his life`s companion, Lucille Roy. In 1965, Lucille and Arthur were married in the newly-built Falher church. Arthur worked for five years as manager for CCIL.

The family, then made up of two children (Louise and Raymond) moved to Golden, BC for one year. They then settled in St. Paul, Alberta where Arthur farmed for seven years with his father and brother, Rémi. It is in St. Paul where their third child, Denis, was born.

Destiny brought them back to Falher, where Arthur was once again employed by CCIL and when the company shut its doors, he worked for Chalifoux Motors, then as a manager for the NAAL farm business.

Both Arthur and Lucille got involved in the scouts’ movement, where he remained for 11 years. During all the years that their children were in school, they also sat on school councils.

In 1995, he became involved in real estate and bought Honey Capital Realty. After six years he retired. After retirement, Art’s health started to decline which kept him close to home.

Dad was passionate about reading anything he could get his hands on. The last book he started was the history of Allis Chalmers tractors. Don’t you think it was quite appropriate?

Dad was a man of action, a real doer, more than a smooth talker even though he was a natural Salesman. He always had an interesting story to tell with a humorous twist.

Dad was a man of strong faith and we know that God has him in his loving arms. We hope God likes the smell of pipe tobacco.

Arthur was predeceased by his brother, Remi; sister, Regina; and his parents, Gérard and Émérentienne Bussière. Art is survived by his brothers, Hector (Diane), Adrien (Flore) and Clement (Joy); and sister, Lucille. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Lucille; his children, Louise, Raymond (Michelle) and Denis (Melissa); as well as all his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for the late Arthur André Bussière were held August 29, 2014 at the Paroisse Ste-Anne Parish in Falher, with Monsignor Charles Lavoie officiating. Internment followed at the Ste-Anne Cemetery in Falher. Funeral arrangements were made by the Chapel of Memories Funeral Homes in Peace River.

If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Société Historique et Généalogique de Smoky River in Donnelly as expressions of sympathy.
