- ATTLEBORO - Roger J. Bussiere, 86, a self-employed businessman and retired union pipe fitter for Local 51, died peacefully Tuesday at the Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Theresa (Viens) Bussiere.
Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Alexander and Eva (Bonnefee) Bussiere. Mr. Bussiere has been a resident of the South Attleboro section for over 64 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater Parachute Field Airborne Command. He attained the rank of corporal and received three Service Stars, a Purple Heart and Distinguished Unit Badge.
He enjoyed the many activities with his family and friends.
Surviving are two daughters, both of Attleboro, Constance Roll and her husband Tate and Joanne Nicholson and her husband Paul; four grandchildren, Tracey Roll and her husband Bil Kicher, Todd Roll and his wife Remily Vaslet, Lorie (Nicholson) Goodman and her husband Todd and Christopher Nicholson; three great-grandsons, Tate, Mitch and Mark; one brother, Roland Bussiere of Lebanon, Conn.; two sisters-in-law, Alice Bussiere of North Ft. Myers, Fla. and Alice Bussiere of Plymouth, N.H.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Wilfred, Maurice, Leonard and Richard Bussiere.
The funeral will be held Saturday at 9:45 a.m. from the Cheetham Mortuary, 1012 Newport Ave., Pawtucket. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Theresa Church, Baltic Street, Attleboro at 11 a.m.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Mortuary. Burial will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery with military honors.
