- Ruby passed away quietly on Sunday, February 23 at the age of 93 at Mayo Nursing Home in Northfield, Vermont. She was the daughter of Sydney Wheatley Allen and Amy Abbey, born on November 4, 1931 in Brookfield. She was the youngest of nine siblings: brothers Roy, Arthur, Edwin, Leo, Theodore and Ethan, and sisters Inez and Arlene, all of whom predeceased her. Ruby's ancestors are among the early settlers of Brookfield and Northfield, VT, including Ithamar Allen, Aquillo Jones and Captain John Wheatley.
In 1950, Ruby graduated from Northfield High School and married Albert E. Bussiere in 1953. Ruby worked for many years for Mayo Nursing Home as a nurse's aide and licensed nursing assistant. She later became an entrepreneur and started her own cleaning business with her friend, Rachel Brown. Ruby loved camping, but mostly because family would all gather around. She loved her children and enjoyed any occasion where family would be together. She enjoyed a good cup of coffee, listening to country music, and sitting on her front porch. She liked shopping, and Christmas was her favorite holiday. Ruby spent many seasons at Thunder Road raceway and only watched golf when Tiger Woods was playing. And she loved her little dog, Lucy. Ruby is survived by her children and their spouses: Marcel and Kathy Ruel, David and Susan Boedy, Debbie Mazuroski, Albert and Maria Bussiere, Thomas and Laura Bussiere, and Theo Lagerstedt. Her grandchildren: Alex Frost, Meghan Kendall, Tessa Bussiere, Matthew Mazuroski, Jessica Skinner, Angela Stadelmeyer, Joshua Bussiere, Letice Blankenship, Shealynn Lagerstedt, and Paige Lagerstedt. Her great grandchildren: Samuel Stadelmeyer, Jillian Stadelmeyer, Jonathan Alix, Aleena Skinner, Madelyn Skinner and Abigail Skinner. Plus many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, Albert Bussiere, Sr. (1928-2004), son, Joseph (1954-1954), sons-in-law Edward Mazuroski and Calvin Frost, and grandchild, Sydney Blake Lagerstedt (1999-1999). A wake will be held on Friday, February 28, 2025 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Kingston Funeral Home, 35 Slate Ave., Northfield, VT. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at 11:00 am at St. John The Evangelist Church, 206 Vine St., Northfield, VT. A graveside service will be held in the Spring and announced at a later date.
