- Joan Whitcher Melbourne Joan Whitcher, 86, passed away on Monday, October 12, 2009 at Island Health and Rehab. She was born on July 29, 1923 in Gor ham, NH. Joan worked for Lurias in Forest City for many years and moved to Brevard County in 1977. Joan is survived by two sons, Gregory Whitcher of Melbourne, FL, Gerald Whitcomb of Alexandria, Australia; three step- daughters, Marjorie Wilkins of Enfield, CT, Virginia Nickerson of Novelty, OH, and Donna Knighton of Lisbon, NH; four grandchil dren, Chere Gibbs of Orlando, Christina Whitcher of Debary, FL, Brian Whitcomb of Sugar Hill, GA, and Heidi Harrington of Sultan, WA, seven step- grandchildren, five great- grandchildren and 11 step- great-grandchildren. There will be a private visitation from 10-11 a.m. on Monday, October 19th at Florida Memorial Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held follow ing the visitation at 1 p.m. on Monday, October 19th at Highland Memory Gardens, Apopka, FL. There will be an evening of reflec tion with memories of Joan held at 6 p.m., Saturday, November 7th at Viera Elks, 5820 S. US Hwy 1 Rockledge, FL 32955.
