    • Bernard Anthony O'Dowd December 17, 1928- November 21, 2017
Bernie passed away peacefully at the CHSLD de St. Bruno after a life full of love and adventure. Surrounded by his loved ones, he left this world knowing his children and grandchildren will have the right tools to face their new adventures and opportunities. He is predeceased by his loving wife of 54 years, Joan Bussières, (2009) and his 10 brothers and sisters. He was the proud father of Brenda, (Gord Cairns), Jane (Craig Doran), Kevin (Michelle Godbee), Margaret and Michael (Vicki Prevost) as well as his grandchildren Joan (JJ), Kevin, Chris, Tim, Stacey , Cameron, Kelsey, Shannon and Shayne. Born in Quebec City, he moved to Montreal in the late 50's with his young family to grow new roots with Great West Life Assurance where he worked for over 45 years. He moved to St. Bruno in 1960 where he was involved with a number of charitable organizations, and his children's sporting activities. After working on several city committees, in 1979 he was elected to city council in St. Bruno where he served his community for 16 proud years. The family would like to thank all for their support over the years especially to the workers, now friends, at the Manoir St. Bruno, CHSLD Marguerite Adam and St. Bruno; we cannot thank the personnel at these facilities enough for their smiles, help, and compassion.
The family will receive condolences at St. Augustine Church in St. Bruno on Thursday November 30 from 9h30 followed by a funeral mass at 11AM. Following the ceremony, the family will serve a light lunch in the church hall. Burial will take place at Queensville cemetery on Dec. 2nd. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Shriners Hospital (www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org/montreal/ways-to-give) or Hospital for Sick Kids (www.sickkids.ca) care of Dr. Rosanna Weksberg's Genetics Research Fund.
