LEWISTON - Jeannette I. Lamontagne, 79, of Sabattus Street, died Monday, Sept. 8, at Central Maine Medical Center, with her family at her side.
She was born in Groveton, N.H., on Dec. 26, 1928, a daughter to the late Leo and Clara (Cote) Bussiere. She was educated at St. Mary's school and later attended Bliss College. She married the love of her life, Maurice Lamontagne on Dec. 31, 1948.
Together they owned and operated The Shamrock Restaurant and later the Cavalier Town and Country Club. She was a member of the former St. Mary's Church, Le Pastime Club and Le National. She enjoyed sewing and crafts, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She leaves her husband of almost 60 years, Maurice of Lewiston; two daughters, Monique Franck and her husband, John, of Lewiston and Denise Lamontagne and her companion, Richard Steeves, of Lisbon; a son, Gaetan Lamontagne and his companion, Stephanie Levasseur, of South Monmouth; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Roger (Joe) Bussiere of New Hampshire, and Lionel Bussiere of Lewiston; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Gilberte Dulac; and three brothers, Angelo (Chuck), Walter and Conrad (Pete) Bussiere.
