- HAMPTON Richard Roger Bussiere, 82, of Hampton, formerly of North Hampton and Jaffrey, died Wednesday, May 9, 2012, surrounded by his family, at Exeter Hospital.
He was born Aug. 4, 1929, in Concord, a son of the late Andrew and Rose (Fillion) Bussiere.
Mr. Bussiere was raised in Jaffrey and attended Conant High School. From a young age, Richard worked in his father's business, Elite Laundry & Dry Cleaners of Jaffrey, until he and his brother Bobby purchased the business from their father in 1960.
As a young couple, he and his wife, Loretta (Taylor) Bussiere, were members of the Keene Motorcycle Club and enjoyed riding their Indian, Harley and Triumph bikes all over New England, including a trip to Montreal, Canada, for their first wedding anniversary.
While in Jaffrey, he served as chairman and commissioner of the Jaffrey Water Works, was a member of the Lions Club, a volunteer firefighter, and a member of the Holy Name Society and the Peterborough Country Club.
Richard sold his part of the Jaffrey business in 1967, purchased Hampton Dry Cleaners and moved his family to North Hampton. During his time in Hampton, he served as president of the North East Fabricare Association and was very active in the Northeast Cleaners and Launderers Association, New Hampshire Launders and Cleaners and Tri-State Dry Cleaners of Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. He had been a member of Abenaqui Country Club since 1969, and was an on-call North Hampton firefighter.
Richard was a communicant of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church and a member of the Holy Name Society, where he was well known for calling bingo games at church on Monday nights. He also held a private pilot's license and had been flying out of Silver Ranch Airport in Jaffrey and the Hampton Airfield since the 1960s.
In 1984, he sold his business and he and Loretta became "snowbirds," traveling to their home in Winter Haven, Fla., from October to May. They were members of the Lakes Region Country Club in Winter Haven, and for the next 27 years, enjoyed golfing and traveling around Florida, visiting family and friends.
In addition to Loretta, the love of his life and wife for more than 62 years, he is survived by his daughters, Gail Albro and her husband, Henry, of West Townsend, Mass., and Debra Noyes and her husband, Stacy, of Hampton; his grandchildren, Lisa Hardenbrook and her husband, Adam, of Newmarket, Kelly Eads and her husband, Joshua, of Kingsland, Ga., Samuel Albro of Townsend, Mass., and Amy Strickland and her husband, Kyle, of Calera, Ala.; his brother, Robert Bussiere of Jaffrey; his sister, Janet Mason of Clyde, N.C.; his brother-in-law, Melvin Taylor of Peterborough; and many nieces and nephews.
Richard was predeceased by his parents; brother Wilfred Bussiere; and sisters Louise Boudrieau and Pauline Forcier.
SERVICES: Visiting hours will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 13, in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at noon Monday, May 14, at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, 289 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Burial will be private.
