      Kenneth Stuart Immonen, 65, of Rockland and formerly of Atlantic Mine, died unexpectedly on Monday, March 24, 2014, at Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital.

      Stuart was born in Hancock, Mich., on January 10, 1949, a son of the late Felix and Aileen (Mattila) Immonen. He attended the Adams Township schools and later received his GED.

      Stuart worked at the Calumet & Hecla Mines, the White Pine Copper Company, Homestake Mining Company in Lead, South Dakota, and prior to retirement, worked for several years as a semi-truck driver.

      Stuart loved his home in Rockland where he farmed and raised beef cattle. He was fond of his farm animals. He also enjoyed rabbit and deer hunting.

      Surviving are one brother, Michael (Nancy) Immonen of Atlantic Mine; two sisters, Pauline (Michael) Bussiere of Iron Mountain and Ann Vanderlip of Newbury Park, Calif.; his children and grandchildren, daughter Janice (Shon Stevens) Roy of Rochester, N.H. and her children, Ashleigh and fiance, Frank Grant, and Matthew Roy of N.H.; daughter Julie (Michael) Ferguson of Mohawk and their children, Amber-Mae Wade, Brittany Ferguson and fiancé, Lawrence Tillitson, and Carley Ferguson; son, Stuart (Shana) Hubbard of Portage, Mich., and his son, Tyler; a soon to be great-granddaughter, Ariana Ann Tillitson; a special friend, Dan Derickson of Rockland; one uncle, Paul Rimpela of Hancock; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, Stuart was also preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and David.

      Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2014, in the Mountain View Mortuary in South Range, with Pastor Sally Wilke to officiate. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service on Saturday at the mortuary. Spring burial will be in the Atlantic Mine Cemetery.
