    • Louis was born July 1, 1922 in Fall River, Massachusetts to Yvonne and Louis Bussiere. He was the eldest of ten children during the great depression and served in the U.S. Army for 4 years during WWII. Louis served as a non-commissioned officer in charge of a rifle squad and also a platoon sergeant. Louis served 11 months in the European Theater of operation as a member of the 44th Infantry Division and awarded a number of medals including the bronze star.

It was while Louis was stationed at Fort Lewis that he met his love Helen Baroumes. Louis and Helen were married in 1944 just before Louis was shipped overseas during WWII. Louis returned home after the war and never forgot how fortunate he was to return to his beloved family. Helen and Louis were married for 57 wonderful years. They made their home in Ballard and had 3 children, Ron, John & Mary who attended local schools.

Louis adopted Helen’s faith and became very active at Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Seattle. Louis was a Master Molder and worked in Seattle area foundries for over 20 years. He was President of his Molder’s Union for 2 years. Upon his retirement he worked with his son Ron in the electronic manufacturing business.

In 1993 Louis and Helen moved to Edmonds to be near their children and grandchildren. Louis was a very devoted husband and father. He was a fun and loving grandfather. Louis was loved by all who knew him for his wonderful disposition and his sense of humor and kind heart. When his children purchased their first homes, Louis was right there to help with painting or construction projects. He happily gave selfless support to his entire family.

Louis was preceded in death by his wife Helen, his parents and brothers Billy, Norman, Romeo, Robert and Eddie. Louis is survived by his sons, Ron Bussiere of Edmonds & John (Becky) Bussiere of Mill Creek, his daughter Mary (Rick) Watts of Edmonds, granddaughters Vanessa (Rob) Olsen, Christina (Nick) Thaut and Eleni Watts. Louis is also survived by brothers Frank (Jean) Bussiere of New Jersey & George Bussiere of Florida and sisters Lois Lucey & Yvette (Ron) Kaiser of New Jersey.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at Richmond Beach Rehab for their skilled and loving care at the end of Louis’ life. The family would particularly like to thank Shirley for the Lucky Card Casino activities, the Providence Hospice Team and Hospice nurse “New Jersey Mary” who was loved by Louis like family.

Louis passed away peacefully on March 28, 2013. He lived a full and wonderful life. He was a good man and will survive in the hearts of many forever.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 4, 2013 from 6:00pm to 7:00pm at Evergreen Washelli Funeral Home, 11111 Aurora Avenue North, Seattle, WA.
