- LEWISTON - Arthur R. Bussiere, 74, of 26 Sandhill Road, Lewiston, died unexpectedly on Monday, May 14, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Lewiston on Feb. 7, 1933, the son of Francois and Eva (Laflamme) Bussiere and had been a resident of this community all of his life.
He was employed at Crest Shoe for many years, until his retirement in 1995. He was married to the former Simonne Gagne on Oct. 1, 1955; she died on Oct. 9, 2000.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, having served in the Korean War from June 22, 1950 to June 22, 1953. He was a member of the Pastime Club, 20M Club, ACME Club, La National Club, American Legion Post 153, VFW in Lisbon and was a parishioner of Holy Cross Church.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing cribbage and other card games.
He is survived by his companion, Eadie Ryder of Lewiston; three sons, Roger Bussiere, and his wife, Donna, of Auburn, Donald Bussiere, and his wife, Tina, of Sabattus and Arthur "Sam" Bussiere, and his companion, Barbara Tatu, of Lewiston; five daughters, Alice Walker, and her husband, Roger, of Sabattus, Pauline Celetti, and her husband, Alfred, of Massachusetts, Diane Lee, and her husband, Stephen, of Delaware, Christine Gervais, and her husband, Mike, of Sabattus and Michelle Bruneau, and her husband, Ricky, of Massachusetts; four sisters, Yvette Lachance of Connecticut, Cora Ward, and her husband, Milton, of Connecticut, Lillian Boulay of Lewiston and Irene Lachance, and her husband, Lionel, of Lewiston; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his grandson, Ryan Bussiere; four brothers, Henry, Leo, Maurice and Emile Bussiere; and by two sisters, Julia Bussiere and Cecile Gardner.
